Ref. 4015: IMPRESSIVE CASTLE IN THE BORDEAUX REGION
In the Bordeaux region, behind the châtelet housing an old drawbridge, one discovers a magnificent 11th century castle. Marked by the various episodes of the Hundred Years' War that troubled the region, the fortress was partially destroyed and rebuilt during the 16th century. The castle is listed as a historical monument for all of the buildings and for the entrance gatehouse.
This impressive castle is composed of a châtelet, a U-shaped main building with a two-storey restaurant in one wing, a caretaker's lodge, two-storey dwellings, cellars, a workshop, horse boxes, outbuildings and studios. The entire castle of approx. 2,000 sqm is distributed by three stairways including a superb, wide stone stairway. The facades of the castle are pierced with large openings (17th century works), thus offering a great deal of light inside.
The ground floor spans approx. 800 sqm and comprises a superb reception area with various large rooms including a lounge, dining room, treasure room, king's bedroom, study, pantry, kitchen, library, ceremonial room and chapel. Beautiful architectural features with fireplaces in the main rooms, paintings, woodwork, alcoves and beamed ceilings.
The rooms have superb parquet floors and warm Regency woodwork. The walls of the dining room are adorned with 16th century Cordovan leather, completely authentic and in good condition.
On the first floor, approx. 820 sqm: gallery, ten rooms including five bedrooms (two with duplex rooms) and a magnificent 145 sqm dining room.
On the second floor, gallery, four groups of two rooms with cloakrooms and latrines, as an extension, the magnificent framework of the tower.
To the north, the restaurant: on the ground floor, approx. 220 sqm, pantry, lounge, dining room and toilet, on the first floor, accommodation of approx. 65 sqm and large 200 sqm dining rooms. Extending from the restaurant: the châtelet comprising two rooms and an attic. The caretaker's lodge with kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a shower room.
To the south, private accommodation on one floor with convertible attic space, comprising two 50 sqm flats each with kitchen, living room, bedroom and shower room. Adjacent cellar, workshop and horse box. A large building of approx. 580 sqm comprising a stable and a barn with a high wooden floor is situated at the bottom of the courtyard.
A central building of approx. 180 sqm comprising a studio, laundry room and garages completes the property.
The land has an area of approximately 4.94 acres and offers a magnificent view over the plains and woods.
