Historical description (from the Ministry of Culture)
Manor known as the manor of Commes. Stable and shed, probably a press and cellar originally, built in the 16th century. The dwelling was constructed in the first half of the 18th century. In 1765, it was owned by Mr. Subtil, lord of Commes and Port. He may have been the one to redesign the regular garden, completed in an exedra with moats, as shown on the 1809 cadastral map. In 1871, there was an unfulfilled project to rebuild the stairs of the dwelling for Mr. de Saint-Louet by Charles Le Verrier, an architect in Bayeux. The manor was then acquired by Parisian Jules Heuzey, who had it completely transformed by architects Auguste Duvert and Adrien Hamelin from Paris: in April 1899, a restoration project for the dwelling; in November 1899, a project for the interior decorations, with work completed in 1900 (date on the main door). Simultaneously, the stable and shed were renovated, the caretaker's pavilion, gardens were laid out, and the billiard room, known as the Norman house, the orangery, and the kiosk were built. Around 1910-1914, the tower and entrance gate were constructed.
Barnes offers you a manor to renovate, consisting on the ground floor of four rooms, ancient fireplaces, ceilings with wooden beams, and floors dating back to the construction of the building.
The first floor
Houses the sleeping area with generously sized rooms featuring period parquet flooring.
The roofing and facade of the manor were completed in 2024.
An orangery, stables, a caretaker's house, a guest house, moats, and a tower complete the property.
In addition: A plot of buildable land of approximately 2 hectares with an expired planning permit and another plot of buildable land of approximately 1 hectare.
All on 5 hectares. Fees to be borne by the seller.
